Interview with Jean-Noel Calvet from Snowzone AVORIAZ

Short designer history and which features do you still ride: I´m still riding the Superpipe and some kicker, preferably the smaller and medium ones
Short snow park history: The Arare Park exists sind 1993, the oner in Chappelle as well as the Superpipe was found in 2002. The Biotop-Park was created in 2005 and the Trasher Park in 2006.
Park sponsors: BURTON, RED, ANON
Shaper Crew: 9 people, 3 cats with approx 10 cat driving hours per evening
Cat shaping hours per season: 1.500 hours
Position of the park: Superpipe N-NE, Arare N-NW, Chapelle S-W, Trasher W, Biotop (The Stash) N-NW
Park philosophy: A good park in good shape every day the whole season long (approx 120 running days from begin of December till end of April)
Percentage of park areas: Pro-Area: 40%, Public-Area: 40%, Beginner-Area: 20%
The importance of a Pro area: I would rather ask how important is a Public Area or a Beginner Area! The Pro Area just is the cherry on the cake! It is not overcrowded because there is the Public Area as well. That leads to the fact that less injuries happen
Local Pro rider: Nicolas Droz, Jenny Jones, Scott Mc Morris, Jean-Jacques Roux
General news for 07/08: The “Biotop” Park will be called “The Stash” as it gets sponsored by BURTON
Events 07/08: No TTR-Events planed for this season – for more information check out our website www.snowzone.com
Shape and style of the obstacles: Rather steep this year
Beginner rails and boxes: The take off is directly in front of the rail / box. So you can slide on it. The smallest features are 3m long
Shape and style of the rails and boxes: All kinds of rails, boxes, wallrides, bunks. Different types of tubes/pipes and so on.. No s-rail or s-box though
New snow obstacles, lines or projects: To transform the „Biotop“ Park into the „Stash“, plus 25 new features added to the already existing 10. An alltime Big-Air-pillow in “The Chapelle“ park.
Shape style of the new obstacles:
Planned park modification or changes later in the season: The season at Arare Park takes it changes with it depending on the snowfall. The other parks stay the same.
Average amount of riders per day: Arare: 195.333 visitors/season – average: 1.468 visitors/day, Chapelle: 382.500 visitors/season – average: 3.355 visitors/day, Trashers: 121.147 visitors/season – Average: 1.035 visitors / day, Superpipe: 100.887 visitors /season - Average: 1.050 visitors / day, Biotop / Stash: No figures yet
Safety precautions and inventions: Nets, Warning signs
How about a (super)pipe: It is always good to have a pipe! Otherwise it is a waste of time. We use the Zaugg Pipe Monster 22’
Any epic or crazy events happened in the past:  There are too many!
Your freestyle park vision:  Good to play in, access from everywhere, good landings And always one and the other feature which makes you dream...
Freeride possibilities in the backcountry: There are quite a lot possibilities!! Good access and very various
